China Eastern Airline and Pratt & Whitney reached to agreement in Y2005 to jointly set up a new world class aircraft CFM56® engine overhaul joint venture. This new joint venture, Shanghai Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engine Maintenance Company Limited. has been set up in Q4,2007 in Shanghai. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to overhaul 200-300 engines per year and employ 800 people. The facility, due to induct its first engine in 2008, will comprise approximately 23,000 sq. meters (250,000 sq. feet). Its in-depth repair capabilities, 10-meter test cell with capability of up to 75,000 pounds of thrust, and state-of-the-art inＦＯＲＭation technology system will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to airline customers in China and the Aisa Pacific region. The joint venture is located in Qingpu district which is 17 kilometers from HOngqiao airport and 32 kilometers to downtown area of Shanghai.

东航与普惠公司于2005年达成协议，并于2007年第四季度在上海建立世界级的CFM56发动机大修合资企业-上海普惠飞机发动机维修有限公司。它将为中国以及亚太区的航空公司客户提供飞机发动机的深度维修、保养以及大修服务。投产后的上海普惠飞机发动机维修有限公司每年将大修200 – 300台发动机，雇用800名员工。2008年下半年第一台发动机进厂大修。设施总面积约为2.3万平方米，位于上海青浦区，距虹桥机场17公里，距市区32公里。
